About Jay

Jay Kordich was born in 1923 just outside San Diego, California. He grew up in the shadow of his hard working father who was a fisherman and captain of his own fishing boat. Jay learned early on the value of a hard day’s work. He also grew and developed the muscles that would serve him well as a football player at the University of Southern California.

In 1948 at the age of 25, Jay was diagnosed with a serious illness and was told he may not have long to live. After reviewing all the treatments available, he left California and traveled to New York City to see Dr. Max Gerson who was treating terminally ill patients with fresh raw juices and healthy cleansing diets. Jay became his patient and immediately began a regimen of large doses of raw carrot/apple juice. It wasn’t long before Jay’s health was restored and the direction of his life was changed forever.

From a star athlete to surviving a life-threatening illness, all by the age of 26, Jay soon decided he wanted to spread the word of fresh juices and eating a healthy diet. For the next 40 years Jay took his message to anyone who would listen, from county fairs to large department stores to seaside juicing shops. It was his passion to teach everyone he could reach how to be healthy through the power of fresh juices.

In 1990 Jay appeared on his first, national infomercial and Americans embraced him. They were excited to hear his message of long life, health and vitality. He became a New York Times best selling author, speaker and lecturer and created audio and video programs to spread his message of good health through live foods.

Through the years Jay has been featured on:

  • More than 500 television shows
  • Over 1000 radio talk shows

  • WALL STREET JOURNAL (cover article)

Linda Kordich

Linda Kordich grew up in a natural foods family dating back to 1965 when her mother became very ill. Being a vegetarian at the age of 12 stood her apart from most people in those times. In her late teens, she fell into a life threatening disease known now as anorexia/bulimia, but learned through studying and observing the natural healing qualities of fresh vegetable juices and living foods, that this was something she could heal, given the right environment and food choices.
Jay & Linda Kordich

Recovering from this disease marked her life as a compassionate teacher to help those unfortunate to have fallen into a food addiction. Recovered now for 28 years, Linda attests living foods and virtuous living a major part of her complete healing. Linda then became an undergraduate student in primary education, specializing in understanding children’s psychological and emotional challenges.

In college, Linda trained as an elementary school teacher for several years, and soon afterwards met Jay. By the time she was 25 she married Jay and started teaching vegetarian food classes along with fresh vegetable juicing classes in 1981. In 1992, she helped Jay co-write “The JuicemanÕs Power of Juicing”, it became a New York Times best seller with over 2 million books sold to date.

Drawing on over 30 years experience with natural foods, In 2006 Linda helped write and produce, The “Live Foods, Live Bodies” program. She now accompanies Jay around the world teaching, inspiring and motivating people to eat more living foods. Linda is now a vibrant and healthy 54. She lives happily with her husband Jay, of 29 years, and their children, John and Jayson.

Linda’s Mission Statement:

“To share all that I have learned in the past thirty years to help uplift, inspire, guide and motivate….. those who are in need, to help change their lives for the better whether it be with living foods, juicing, inspiration, hope or faith.”

Juices that include cucumbers and if possible, green bell peppers are excellent for the skin. A good drink is carrot, cucumber, green bell pepper and some apple if you need to sweeten it up. Celery is also good because the natural water and the sodium and potassium levels help hydrate the body and the skin as well.

Cucumber! Cucumber! Cucumber! Great for the skin. Olives are good too. Your skin should be cleaned often, using a brush or item that will remove the excess oils and dead skin that accumulate daily. Bacteria may fester in the pores of your skin if those pores aren’t cleaned properly and often. Strep and staph infections may occur with poor hygiene. People who are diabetic have poor circulation at the extremities and need to pay particular attention to their skin. Dead or necrotic tissues may harbor infectious bacteria which may lead to further complications with their conditions. Your body’s inability to metabolize simple sugars may be causing your dry skin. Stay away from processed foods. There are many people who go undiagnosed as a type II diabetic (non-insulin dependent). You may want to be tested by a physician to see what your sugar is. Glucose levels can be determined, using a urinalysis, to see how well your body processes glucose (sugar). The wonderful thing about fruits and vegetables is the fact that they are complex sugars and not simple sugars. Complex carbohydrates (complex sugars) have many chains to their molecules and therefore take longer for the body to break down before these sugars are released into the blood stream, whereas, simple sugars (processed foods) take less time and wreak havoc on the pancreas to produce insulin in large amounts in shorter periods of time. Our bodies adapted and evolved over millions of years eating complex foods . We used to pull carrots out of the ground, wipe them off on our trousers, and eat them raw. The minerals we consumed resided in the dirt on the skin of the carrot. Today, our soils have less minerals and we now wash, peel, skin our fruits and vegetables which robs us of these minerals. And last, but not least, fresh fruits and vegetables help our bodies maintain a very very healthy flora in our gut. That’s the bacteria who reside in our stomach that help us digest the foods we eat. Just like Jay mentions that we should put live food into our bodies, in order to live. The same can be said for the bacteria that resides in our digestive tract. Many people have digestive problems because they lack the proper flora due to the intake of processed (dead food) which inhibit the good bacteria from flourishing and helping us digest our meals. So, Jay is right in so many ways. Natural foods help us all live natural and healthy lives. God Bless and take care of that skin of yours! Get Juicing!

I remember selling out of your machines at the Bon Marche back in the early 80′s … it was crazy people stood in line to buy The Juiceman. I attended your seminar several years ago in Portland, OR. What I learned from you has helped me throughout my life. I mostly use my Vita Mix now, but your helpful knowledge still rings in my ear. Just this morning I was saying to myself “citrus alone or leave it alone”. I made an orange/strawberry/spinach/cinnamon drink to start my day. Thank you Jay and Linda Kordich for all that you have taught me. Here’s to your good health. Loriann

I see you studied with Dr. Gerson. How much potentially enzyme destroying heat does your newest model generate in the making of juice? Many thanks for your wonderful work. I’m interested in promoting veganism and vegetarianism so thank you for your work.

Jay’s Power Grind Pro is a new Hybrid technology. It spins at 3600rpm, much slower than regular juice extractors that spin at 8-12,000rpms. After extraction the juice goes thru a grinding stage which extracts additional juice&nutrients. it produces up to 30% more juice/nutrients than conventional juicers. You can actually taste the difference in the quality of the juice. see more at;

Hi Jay
I attended your seminar in Chico California in the early 80′s. I was so impressed that I bought your juiceman 11 right then and there. I have been using it ever since and it is still going strong never needing any parts. If and when this one ever breaks down I will not hesitate to buy the new one you have available now. If ever you are in Oregon I would love to see you and Linda both.
God Bless you and yours.

Hi Jay,
I just wanted to post a message to assure anyone that maybe concerned about the quality of your products. I personally still use the white juicer in the featured video Live Disease Free (1:09), it still performs great after 20 years. I have no doubt that the newer models have been built to the same high standards. Thanks for the nutritional information and the solid products. I just started my own website and plan on mentioning your juicer and site on it. L.W.S

I am just starting this journey to get to my optimal health. I am sure you have been asked this question many times but not sure if you want to answer it. What illness did you have at 25 yrs. old? I am so glad that you found Dr. Gerson. Apparently his work has been kept a secret from the world, my nephew died at 23 yrs old from non Hodgkin’s lymphoma and foods were never mentioned to him and I was only starting to learn about the special green cocktail that could have helped his body fight the cancer within his body. I wanted to bring him fresh vegetables but we could only bring in foods that were in sealed packages ie TV dinners, lots of candies, snack treats. It has been a year since he died and it sickens me to know that his cancer was being fed with all the candy. So it leads me to wonder what carrots and apple juice cured??? If you feel comfortable sharing, I would love to hear you story.
I am loving your book!

Jay you have been such and inspiration to me personally, having just turned 21 yesterday I am fairly new to your story and the world of Juicing. Having heavily researched raw food your name was attached to doctor Max Gerson and others in the healing field. I came today to immediately order your juicer, but my heart was broken when I realised you don’t ship to the UK, I have looked all over the internet yet have failed to find a place that ships your product. Please can you advise me of any means and i mean any, in which I can get a hold of your power grind pro! Thank you from Scotland, Kerr

My hubby and I are considering getting a juicer, could juicing help hypothyroidism, and if so are there any specific fruits or vegetables that would be preferable?
Thank you :)

I was wondering if you had any information about the nutrient content and consumption time. Does the juice have to be drank immediately (I assume you get maximum nutritinal value that way), or would it do just as well sealed in a jar in the fridge for 12 hours? I understand that the least amount of air exposure the better, I’ve read about concerns with bacteria.

Thank you for your time.

I was asked since fruit is so sweet it will spike one blood sugar very high especially if they have a diabetes problem. How can juicing be good for everyone?

if possible do you have a video on this or would you make one for people to learn.

I saw you show on TV the other night, and was really sold on
your juicer. I would like to purchase your unit; however, being
on SSI the cost for me is too much. Would you have any units that are used. or refurbish for sale.

I have Primary Peritoneal Cancer (in remission) which presented itself in the form of fluid outside of the lungs which is considered stage 4. I went through chemo and am in remission and also suffer from Interstitial Cystitis, which is an inflamed bladder lining. I love fruits and vegetables but all the information for the IC condition notes that I can only eat melon, blueberries and pear as they are low in acidity. I am confused as I would like to add a variety of fuits and veggies but when I have done so it has caused a bladder flare up. Would acidic fruits and veggies that are juiced have a differnt effect when they are juiced rather than eaten raw or cooked?

Jay, you are an inspiration to me. I am 43 yr and was told by my doctors that I have significant heart disease last year. They wanted to put me on all kinds of meds…High blood pressure, Statins, etc…but I wanted to try eating and living differently to see if I could prevent all of that. Well, I have started to do so, literally learn how to eat again…after a life of eating the All American junk food diet. etc… Anyway, I have lost 25 lbs. so far but now, I seem stuck and when i juice…my body bloats up and I become constipated. This is very demoralizing for me because I do FEEL good after I juice, but for some reason my body doesnt want to get on the program !!!! And believe it or not, I go back to eating a burger and my body gets regular again….BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT….. Help me..any advice would be great!

Hi Jay,
I’ve been a follower of tradition / organic / raw food / juicing diet for many years, since being diagnosed with RA and subsequently healing. I have a room full of books / papers on healing with these wholefoods, some of which are yours. I was always curious about your origin and when I listened to your recent interview re “growing up” I knew I had to say hello (G’day) – My father was also from Komiza, Vis and I am excited to discover that I am very probably related to you, as I know there are not a lot of Kordic(h)s around. I love your inspiring work and perhaps one day if you’re ever in Sydney Australia, we could meet.
