Day Three – Cranberry Apple Juice

Two decades of science has shown how cranberry juice can heal urinary tract infections and help to cleanse the bladder, kidneys and prostate. More studies are showing anti-inflammatory effects and another that says the juice itself is better than extracts for fighting infections.

Now research says drinking a lower calorie version of cranberry juice could lower blood pressure. The new findings were presented at the American Heart Association’s High Blood Pressure Research 2012 Scientific Sessions. Click on the links above for more details on all of the research.

The Answer To Low Calorie Cranberry Juice You Make At Home!

Jay Kordich tells us “Take charge of what goes into your lower calorie cranberry juice by making it yourself with your own juice machine in your own kitchen. With my recipe, if you want less sugar in your juice, simply use less apples. Add some water, maybe some Stevia or raw honey and pour over ice for a great tasting and healthy drink.”

With this recipe you control how tart the juice is by how much of each ingredient you use. Unlike most commercial cranberry juice, no refined sugar and nothing artificial is added.

CRANBERRY-APPLE JUICE
2 cups Cranberries
2 Apples
Ice

LOW CALORIE CRANBERRY-APPLE JUICE
2 cups Cranberries
1 Apple
1/2 cup water
Stevia or raw honey to taste, if needed.

Juicing For Weight Loss In Her Own Words

I am in my forties, a mom of two – a seven and eleven year old boy and girl. For more than ten years now, I have been brain washed into thinking that after the age of thirty and after having a baby, and worse yet two or more babies, (especially by c-sections like I had) I have to be contented with a fat bulging belly – because this will never go away. I made up my mind to love myself the way I was: This is the acceptable look of a mother in her forties. Wrong!!

I became convinced one morning as I listened to the infomercial, advertising Jay Kordich PowerGrind Pro Juicer and all the health benefits of juicing, that I DID NOT have to settle for a body size and look that I DID NOT like! I got out of bed, picked up the phone and made the call, I ordered the juicer. I am happy I did.

I did the three day cleanse/detox as outlined in the book Live Foods Live Bodies. By day three, as promised, my body felt great and alive in a different way; I felt new. I had a colon cleanse that made me feel relieved on the inside: My tummy felt “cleaned out”; it was like emptying a garbage bin – and then the bin is so fresh and clean you just don’t want to put back any trash in it! I cross my heart to this, this is exactly how my inside felt!

The new feeling was so vitalizing I could not stop at the three days cleanse: I continued consuming only juices for a week. OMG!! I lost a whopping twelve pounds, mostly from my gut! I gradually went back to eating regular, but healthy foods as advised by Jay, while I continue juicing everyday.

My face and skin looked younger in less than two weeks! I now have a flat belly. I feel and look so much younger; I feel like I’ve put down an uncomfortable baggage. I have to be buying smaller blouses and jeans, but all that money could never buy the compliments and health I’ve gained from juicing. I now look and feel greater than I have ever been for the past ten years.

Migraine Headache Relief

Juicing has totally changed my life!  I met Jay and Linda in Costa Mesa, CA in December of 2011 at a dinner party. I sat next to Linda and she shared with me about juicing. I came home and ordered the Power Grind Pro and decided I was sick of being sick… I had suffered from migraine headaches for 20+ years. This caused a spiral in my health, physical and mental.

I had become depressed because I was in pain every day.  My headaches had gotten worse and more frequent.  I had a headache every day of my life for about 4 years. I couldn’t sleep in my bed because when I would wake up I couldn’t walk and my whole body was in pain. I slept on the couch for about 2 years because it was the only place I could get comfortable. I was overweight and just wanted to sit around and not do much of anything except try and make it through the day.  I was short with my kids and felt tired and angry all the time. Pain will do that to you.  I tried to get motivated and lose weight.  Nothing worked.

After hearing Jay speak and other’s testimonials about how he helped to improve their health when doctors couldn’t, I decided to try the same. I began doing research and read one of Charlotte Gerson’s books. It talked about how Dr. Gerson began his therapy to get rid of his migraines. I started juicing every day and using the recipes in Live Foods Live Bodies. It has totally changed my life.

I have lost almost 50lbs.  I am in the best shape of my life. I have not had a migraine or even a headache since December of 2011. I can now sleep in my own bed and wake up feeling great. I work out almost every day and have started doing triathlons. I completed my first one on Mother’s Day 2012 and plan to do my second one this Saturday. I have so much energy and feel great.

I have been to many doctors, have had epidural injections in my neck, taken lots of medication, spent many days in bed because I couldn’t get rid of the pain.  Juicing has given me my life back!

My Most Recent Juicing Demonstration

Recently I was in Florida with Paul Nison, who was kind enough to invite us to speak in West Palm Beach, Florida.  I spoke about the importance of living LIFE first, naturally.  No chemicals in your foods, no artificial ingredients in foods, or artificial colors in your foods.  Please always read labels, and especially, if you have allergies, or your children have allergies this is of the utmost importance.

I also spoke about the importance of eating fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, legumes and herbs.  Fresh!  Juice everyday and surround yourself with salads by making your main meals out of large green salads.

Important Differences between Fruit and Vegetable Juices

Fruit and vegetable juices are the cleansers, energizers, builders, and regenerators of the human system. Specifically, fruits are our cleansers and energizers and vegetable juices are our builders, and regenerators.  Freshly extracted fruit or vegetable juices will supply all the enzymes, vitamins, minerals, protein, and some fats critical to increased vitality! Adding live juices to one’s diet as a daily routine, many claim brings them a rejuvenating effect and help the disorders such as obesity, cancer, leukemia, arthritis, high blood pressure, kidney disorders, skin infections, liver disorders, alcoholism, and smoking. Supplying the body with easily absorbable nutrients, so that anybody, even with compromised immune sytems or assimilation challenges, juicing penetrates into our intestinal walls, making assimilation almost immediate. Mother Nature, Our Sustainer, Teacher and Healer

Do you realize that when we turn towards SUN FOODS, we are also transforming the Inner, spiritual part of ourselves as well?

First, let’s talk about sunfoods.

What are Sunfoods?   These are foods that grow from the ground, from trees such as fruits, nuts and seeds that become transformed into foods edible for us to consume…..perfectly ripened by the sun.  These are perfect foods, rich with vitality, love and knowledge!

It is precisely these foods that us humans need in order to feel spiritually connected to the planet, and most importantly, to the humanity we so desperately need on this big beautiful Earth.

Did you know, that when the sun’s rays touch the Earth, it stimulates the seed from deep within the ground, to sprout and soar towards the sun? It’s in this mysterious process ~ perfectly designed, by the way, where we need focus our attention, because it’s not just the foods that will help us transform our lives for the better…. it’s the mysterious and magnificent gifts we receive from a higher source that will heal ourselves and our planet when we consume these plant foods and their juices.

For example, if we could feel the pain others feel…. feel the isolation and unfair degredation our brothers and sisters have to endure day by day, our world would change overnight.

Why?  Because when you hurt, I hurt.  It’s that simple.

Yet, if it were that easy, we wouldn’t be facing such an overwhelming dilemma we are facing now.  We need to wake up from the dream we have been living in….When we start to break free from the deep, dark crusts of apathy that wrap around our heart and soul, we begin to truly feel…..we begin to feel the pain of our own disconnection to the world, to ourselves and our loved ones.  This is the beginning of understanding that our diet plays a huge role in the way we think, act and live.

Sunbaked, living foods and their juices will help us wake up from this dark dream we are living in.  Let the colour of these juices stream into your body.  Let the blood of the plant enrich our souls.  It is precisely this act that will help us all understand how much power we have in this world to change, yet the irony is, the more of us change to a plant based diet, the more we ALL transform.

This is the reason why, that the more we teach, come together and unify, the more we can and will heal the entire human race. It may sound like pie in the sky, but actually, if you transform…..others will become inspired and do the same, and this becomes expenontial as we progress.  It’s the fastest and most comprehensive way to enlighten ourselves and our planet, and more and more of us are waking up to this humanitarian new way of living on this beautiful blue Earth.

How do I know this?

When I was a little girl, back in 1960……I distinctly remember imaging what our world would look like when I was older.  Would there be vegetarian restaurants?  It was literally impossible for us to go out to a restaurant with our family back in the 1960′s because we were vegetarians back then.  Only Chinese restaurants had the foods, and even then, one had to be careful….their sauces were laden with animal products such as fish sauces, etc.,.

It’s been 40 years since I had this thought, and look at the world!  Everywhere we go there are vegetarian options.  People by the millions are changing their diets and riding this beautiful new wave of healing.

It is possible!

I wonder what the world will look like 40 years from now?  It’s up to us all to take this farther and farther, deeper and deeper until the majority of the planet is enlightened by choosing a plant based diet.  As we ‘hook up’ to the green juices, the plant based diet foods, we begin to wake up…..and start to see ourselves and our planet quite differently.  We will ‘start’ to bloom inwardly, igniting the spark of compassion, love and understanding, just as naturally as a fragrant red rose blooms in the summertime.

Drinking fresh green juices quicken this process!

These deep, rich and magnificent colours imbedded in these plants, specifically, the esoteric information permeating within these plants…. become filled with divine knowledge, and will….indeed transform our lives into a profound understanding of ‘who’ we really are.

Especially in juice form.

Green juices are powerfully healing in their abilities to quicken this process, yet let’s look at fruit for a moment……

Fruits are the gifts from trees, and are the manifestation of True Love from the Universe.  There are no real words to describe their essence, their beauty or even the purity of their gifts to us.  Have you ever sat under a peach tree…..smelled the fragrance and felt the weight of the branches as they swayed towards the ground during a gentle breeeze in the middle of the summer?

This is exactly what I mean….there are no words, because experiencing is the answer.  I sure hope you invest in our Beloved Mother Nature. She will not just inspire you….. she will thoroughly metamorphosize every cell in your body….enlightening your mind, body and soul.

Cruciferous Vegetables; The Good, The Bad and the Confusing….

Recently we have been hearing about the negative impact juicing kale, spinach, broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables may have that is causing or may cause goitrogenic effects (goiter inducing).  Some research is saying that juicing these veggies creates a negative experience on the body, when juiced.  Steaming, cooking and/or boiling them is suggested, and the longer the better. (30 minutes).

This kind of recent research makes me pause a bit because, based on our past history, 30 plus years for me and 63 years for Jay, it does not make sense to say that cruciferous greens or goitrogenic foods (goiter inducing) needs to be cooked in order for them to not provoke the thyroid in negative ways.

For example, Dr. Garnet Chaney did a powerfully extensive study on cabbage juice and how it literally cured stomach ulcers.  He and Jay participated in this study back in the 1960′s with prisoners who were suffering from stomach ulcers; (duodenal and peptic) and found that almost 90% of these ulcers were healed with 60 to 90 days after consuming fresh cabbage juices on a daily basis.  Even the British Journal, Lancet showed these powerfully enlightening studies.  When they tested cooked cabbage on the ulcers, there was no response.

Further, Dr. Walker, Jay’s mentor and master teacher on juicing from the 1930′s through to the mid 1980′s, has said in his book, Raw Vegetable Juices, where he speaks very highly of fresh green juices, including cruciferous vegetables, stating that they are better digested and consumed in juice form.

That being said, we eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables in our salads, so we do eat them, but we also realize that eating broccoli is harder to consume than juicing it.  Sometimes we even steam them.

However, we feel that drinking liquid broccoli juice is by far more concentrated and digestible in juice form than to eat three or four cups!  Yet…we like to mix up juicing them with other vegetables.

We have been juicing spinach and other cruciferous veggies for many decades, with no goiter abnormalities with our Thyroid whatsoever.  We also have not been eating salt like “Mortons” Salt which is inflused with extra iodine. We use highly mineralized salts like Himalayan Salts or Pink Mineral Salt (Celtic Salts).  And we eat lots of seaweed on a weekly basis, particularly, I do because of post menopausal symptoms feel better when I eat seaweed.  These types of salts have a natural balance of all minerals, including iodine.

On the other hand, we have never suggested drinking pure kale juice, or broccoli juice straight. We recommend always, that greens be combined with other greens or other veggies for better asorption and for concentrated benefits specifically designed for a particular part of the body.

We may be old fashioned, but all of our great Master Teachers from the past; Dr. Norman Walker, Dr. Max Gerson and John Lust never spoke about the dangers of consuming kale juice or broccoli or cauliflower juices.  On the contrary, they speak highly of the healing benefits to the breast area of our bodies, whether we are men or women.

We like to imagine all these dedicated doctors from the past, including our combined 100 years of studying, observing and teaching by far outweighs a few articles that say that goitrogens may cause thyroid distress.  That does not mean we are dead set against some of this research coming out about the juices inhibiting the thyroid’s ability to do its job.

All we are saying is that we all may want to observe the research, and then find out for ourselves what feels comfortable, based on our own experiences with these foods…. but please don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater until more research is found, and always check to see ‘who’ is conducting the research.

Summertime Salsa Everybody will Love!

Here’s a fantastic recipe from our Living Kitchen!  Raw, living Salsa is such a wonderful food to eat in the summertime. You can put it over baked potatoes, over a blended soup, over a salad, and/or on top of anything cooked to help that cooked food become more ‘alive’ with enzyme activity.

What do we mean by ‘alive’ with activity?  We are talking about living foods that have not been cooked.  Jay and I recommend 75% living foods in our diets to help digest the 25% of cooked vegan foods we eat.  If you have a majority of living foods in your diet, the cooked foods you are eating will greatly benefit just by virtue of the plethora of enzymes in the raw foods.

Here’s a great recipe you can use to put over the top of your living soups, cooked soups, baked potatoes, salads, rice dishes, or as a side dish to a cucumber sandwich!

*Note: (Leftovers can be juiced….if you have any of the spinach/parsley/tomatoes/garlic/basil/bell peppers left…juice them up and add some carrots and now you have a fantastic veggie juice to go with your meal…and you don’t have to throw away the extra foods)

Here are the ingredients: (for 4)

1/2 cup cilantro

1/2 cup flat leaf parsley

1 sweet onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic

1/2 cup basil

1/2 cup red bell peppers, or orange or yellow, or mix them together

2 seeded jalapeno peppers

1 cup spinach

Take all of these ingredients and run them through the food processor.

(if you don’t have one, then use a blender, but do it on very slow speed)

Then put all ingredients into a large bowl and add the following ingredients

3 beefstake tomatoes, chopped and seeded.

juice of 2 limes

salt (celtic seasalt preferred) to taste

chili powder to taste

1 cup diced sundried tomatoes (soak for several hours if needed)

As an addition to make it heavier:

2 Haas Avocados ~ mashed and mixed into the recipe the end.
