Jay Kordich At Natural Products Expo West

Jay Kordich was proud to be a part of the largest exhibition of natural products in the western United States, Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim California. Back in March of this year, Jay had the opportunity to make fresh juices for thousands of folks as well as speak to many people on a more personal basis. He was able to act as their coach and help them with their juicing and nutrition efforts.

We were fortunate to have a leading health journalist and nutrition advocate, Kimber Mahon interview Jay on the convention floor. They spoke briefly about the Expo in this interview:

The Superfood Power of Beet Juice

Fifty years ago when Jay was studying about juices and their healing powers, one of the juicing masters of that time, Dr. Norman Walker had a great influence on Jay’s understanding of fruits, vegetables and their role on various parts of the body.

One of the vegetables Dr. Walker believed to be powerful was red beets. His studies provided evidence that beets were great for cleansing and rejuvenating the liver. To this day, Jay frequently uses beets in many of his juice combinations.

Through the benefit of years and also recent clinical studies about beets, we now know even more about the benefits, not only for eating beets, but also beet juice. Research now indicates beet juice can improve brain function, especially in older adults. Beets are high in nitrates that stimulate circulation for intestinal health, blood pressure and exercise performance.

In this study daily beet juice consumption was shown to improve blood flow, especially to the frontal lobe of the brain where cognitive function is more critical as we age.

Shaun Is Energized And Losing Weight With Juicing

I have been a devoted Jay Kordich follower for over 11 years. When I was 20 one of my friends introduced juicing to me in the Air Force. I bought the Juiceman Jr. and never looked back. I listened to the cassette that came with it and bought his book to know the benefits of everything I was juicing.

After getting out of the Air Force I moved around a lot and I wasn’t juicing as much. I put on about 20 lbs and began to feel thuggish. My wife and I lived in LA and had gym memberships but weren’t motivated to go. We were not happy with our health. I got a job in Hawaii as and air traffic controller, and we sold everything. We got out there and saw how active everybody was and the energy everybody had so I went out and bought another juicer. But not just any juicer I knew it had to be a Juiceman Jr.

We were there for 5 years and juicing anything local from the farmers markets we could get our hands on (mostly organic). I know having one of the most stressful jobs that I needed a boost to keep me active and energized and the Juiceman was the ticket. Over the couple of years I worked out there, I converted quite a few coworkers and their families to a lifestyle of juicing. I let them borrow my old copy of the The Juiceman’s Power Of Juicing and their families loved it. Their teenage kid’s faces cleared up with carrots and green peppers. My wife was losing weight and my coworkers ALL reporting back that they are full of energy, all of us from 30 to 60 years old.

We just moved to Denver in April and once again had to start over, my first purchase was the new Jay Kordich PowerGrind Pro. It works great. I’m 31 and in great shape, with the most energy I’ve ever had and dunking a basketball again this year, something I haven’t done since I was 18, (I’m 5’11).

Juicing For Weight Loss In Her Own Words

I am in my forties, a mom of two – a seven and eleven year old boy and girl. For more than ten years now, I have been brain washed into thinking that after the age of thirty and after having a baby, and worse yet two or more babies, (especially by c-sections like I had) I have to be contented with a fat bulging belly – because this will never go away. I made up my mind to love myself the way I was: This is the acceptable look of a mother in her forties. Wrong!!

I became convinced one morning as I listened to the infomercial, advertising Jay Kordich PowerGrind Pro Juicer and all the health benefits of juicing, that I DID NOT have to settle for a body size and look that I DID NOT like! I got out of bed, picked up the phone and made the call, I ordered the juicer. I am happy I did.

I did the three day cleanse/detox as outlined in the book Live Foods Live Bodies. By day three, as promised, my body felt great and alive in a different way; I felt new. I had a colon cleanse that made me feel relieved on the inside: My tummy felt “cleaned out”; it was like emptying a garbage bin – and then the bin is so fresh and clean you just don’t want to put back any trash in it! I cross my heart to this, this is exactly how my inside felt!

The new feeling was so vitalizing I could not stop at the three days cleanse: I continued consuming only juices for a week. OMG!! I lost a whopping twelve pounds, mostly from my gut! I gradually went back to eating regular, but healthy foods as advised by Jay, while I continue juicing everyday.

My face and skin looked younger in less than two weeks! I now have a flat belly. I feel and look so much younger; I feel like I’ve put down an uncomfortable baggage. I have to be buying smaller blouses and jeans, but all that money could never buy the compliments and health I’ve gained from juicing. I now look and feel greater than I have ever been for the past ten years.

Every aspect of my being feels better …emotions, mental alertness… no common colds, no ailment… juicing for me has come as an on-going medicine. I’ll advice the world: CATCH ON TO JUICING! It’s like going back to Eden.

Migraine Headache Relief

Juicing has totally changed my life!  I met Jay and Linda in Costa Mesa, CA in December of 2011 at a dinner party. I sat next to Linda and she shared with me about juicing. I came home and ordered the Power Grind Pro and decided I was sick of being sick… I had suffered from migraine headaches for 20+ years. This caused a spiral in my health, physical and mental.

I had become depressed because I was in pain every day.  My headaches had gotten worse and more frequent.  I had a headache every day of my life for about 4 years. I couldn’t sleep in my bed because when I would wake up I couldn’t walk and my whole body was in pain. I slept on the couch for about 2 years because it was the only place I could get comfortable. I was overweight and just wanted to sit around and not do much of anything except try and make it through the day.  I was short with my kids and felt tired and angry all the time. Pain will do that to you.  I tried to get motivated and lose weight.  Nothing worked.

After hearing Jay speak and other’s testimonials about how he helped to improve their health when doctors couldn’t, I decided to try the same. I began doing research and read one of Charlotte Gerson’s books. It talked about how Dr. Gerson began his therapy to get rid of his migraines. I started juicing every day and using the recipes in Live Foods Live Bodies. It has totally changed my life.

I have lost almost 50lbs.  I am in the best shape of my life. I have not had a migraine or even a headache since December of 2011. I can now sleep in my own bed and wake up feeling great. I work out almost every day and have started doing triathlons. I completed my first one on Mother’s Day 2012 and plan to do my second one this Saturday. I have so much energy and feel great.

I have been to many doctors, have had epidural injections in my neck, taken lots of medication, spent many days in bed because I couldn’t get rid of the pain.  Juicing has given me my life back!

How To Make Almond Milk And Peach

One of the best ways to drink fruit juices is with some omega fats from nuts or seeds. This will smooth out the body’s blood sugar reaction to the glucose and fructose in fruits. Pick The Best Tasting Peaches
Peaches are packed with nutrition as well as great taste. However purchasing the best tasting ones that are nice and sweet, this can be tricky. Peaches with just a little “give” when you hold them indicates they are perfectly ripe. Produce managers do not like customers squeezing their peaches, with obvious reason, therefore you can use smell to tell quite a lot on it’s own. Put your nose right up next to a peach. If it smells sweet and ripe this indicates loads of flavor.

Minerals And Vitamins especially Potassium
One large peach contains only about 68 calories and is dense with minerals like potassium for healthy blood pressure, iron for red blood cells and natural fluorides for bones and teeth. It contains beta-carotene and vitamin C, E and K plus thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, niacin, folate and pantothenic acid. Looking at the sugar composition, peaches are actually pretty low on the fructose list and about average on the glycemic index and glycemic load scales.

Study Indicates Anti-Aging Benefits
There are significant antioxidant properties associated with peaches. A study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2009 is showing major antioxidants in peaches including chlorogenic acid, which helps scavenge free radicals to reduce the effects of aging and deter chronic diseases. This antioxidant has also been shown to help prevent cancer and reduce inflammation.

You will also find flavonoids such as lutein, zeaxanthin and ß-cryptoxanthin in peaches. These compounds are indicated to protect against free radicals and have anti-aging properties.

Almonds Shown to Dramatically Lower Blood Sugar
Among the many benefits of almonds, they have been found to have a neutralizing effect on sugar spikes. Information published in the American Journal of Infectious Diseases found that eating almonds had a significant effect on blood glucose. Almonds are packed with phytonutrients, antioxidants and biologically active compounds that lower the risk of many chronic diseases. The study authors said, “The present study has demonstrated that inclusion of 10 g of almonds in diet led to a significant reduction in fasting and post prandial blood glucose levels.”

Healthy Kidneys

Our Kidneys are quite important….it is our filterating system and if it becomes infected or congested, bladder troubles, urinary tract infections and serious problems can arise.  Yet we don’t really speak much about how to take care of our kidneys, so we thought we would write a short blog about what we have studied in these past three decades on how to take good care of our Kidneys. First and foremost let us say that freshly made, organic Cranberry, or Watermelon juices are some of our favourites.  Combined with other fruits helps make them even more important such as combining the Cranberries with the Apples. More on this below. ** The ingredients in these juices help keep our kidneys in good functioning order and working at their optimum.
Also, certain foods we eat can greatly impact the health and overall longevity of our kidneys.  Foods such as flour, either white or wheat, sugar, crackers, red or white meats can greatly harm our kidneys from functioning successfully.  Millions of Americans were eating high protein, flesh food diets to drop weight but they didn’t realize their kidneys were being negatively impacted by the high protein, no fiber foods.  That would include macrobiotic diets as well.   They don’t recommend drinking much water…and our kidneys NEED a flow of water to keep them buoyant, and functioning at their optimum, yet drinking vegetable juices and/or purified water is important, drinking liquids all at once can harm them as well, so try to stretch your liquid intake throughout the day.

**Cranberry Juice
This spectacular berry helps support our kidneys, mostly due to its highly acidic juice. Its acid can help prevent kidney stones from developing. Cranberries contain a chemical called polymer and it is the polymer in cranberries that is responsible for increasing the acidity of your urine as well as helping prevent bacteria from growing.  We don’t recommend drinking the juice cooked, processed or riddled with sugar. You can purchase fresh Cranberries usually from October through February.  Remember, Organic only!
Here’s a great recipe we have been using for many decades:
Cranberry-Apple (Our Pink Flush!)
2 Cups Organic Cranberries (fresh)
2 Organic Red Delicious Apples
Alternate in between juicing the Cranberries with the Apples so that the thick Cranberries get flushed through properly.

Here’s a great tonic we use in the summertime when Watermelon’s are at their peak.
WATERMELON WHIP!
1 small, Organic Watermelon
Directions: Cut into long strips, using the entire Watermelon.
Note:
According to a 1995 Harvard University study, watermelon contains a lot of potassium, which is very helpful in cleaning or washing off the toxic deposits in the kidneys. It is also helpful in reducing the concentration of uric acid in the blood.
Watermelon also has a high water content that induces frequent urination, which is also helpful for cleansing the kidneys. Its antioxidants help ensure good kidney health.

SALADS FOR BREAKFAST?

Do you have BREAKFAST Confusion? My friends, please try to think outside of the box….because I have learned that eating the traditional way of American breakfasts is one of the main reasons WHY we are diabetic in this (ironically) rich Country of ours!! ! I can’t tell you how many people have asked me throughout the years what I recommend for breakfast.  There is NO possible way could I possibly eat sugared breakfasts like waffles, pancakes, or even cereal. Eating this old fashioned way will not bring you longevity. Here is what I eat about three times a week…..and the answer may shock you….

I eat Salads for breakfast. Yes, I do.

I eat a big green salad sometimes with some protein in the salad. I call them my POWER BREAKFASTS. Here’s a great salad that I love to eat ALL ORGANIC….in the Fall/Winter mornings:
1 cup Organic Pecans
1 cup Spinach
1 large Avocado
1 cup shredded Green Cabbage
1/2 cup Cranberries or Raisins
1 cup Quinoa (red or black is my favorite)
1 cup Broccoli
1/3 cup Sunflower Seeds
1 or 2 LIMES (juiced)

Mix it all together and enjoy! During the Spring/Summertime I usually eat salads three times a week in the mornings and then use the rest of the week to drink green smoothies.When it becomes hotter in the spring/summertime remove so many of the nuts and replace with summertime veggies such as cucumber, celery, jicima, with also adding more spring lettuces.
