Jay’s Holiday Dozen Day Three Cranberry Apple Juice

This is Day Three of 12 consecutive posts with Jay demonstrating how to make each juice recipe. We will also include nutrition and research information to compliment Jay’s choice of fruit and/or vegetable drinks.  Happy Holidays from all of us at JayKordich.com

Day Three – Cranberry Apple Juice

Two decades of science has shown how cranberry juice can heal urinary tract infections and help to cleanse the bladder, kidneys and prostate. More studies are showing anti-inflammatory effects and another that says the juice itself is better than extracts for fighting infections.

Now research says drinking a lower calorie version of cranberry juice could lower blood pressure. The new findings were presented at the American Heart Association’s High Blood Pressure Research 2012 Scientific Sessions. Click on the links above for more details on all of the research.

The Answer To Low Calorie Cranberry Juice You Make At Home!

Jay Kordich tells us “Take charge of what goes into your lower calorie cranberry juice by making it yourself with your own juice machine in your own kitchen. With my recipe, if you want less sugar in your juice, simply use less apples. Add some water, maybe some Stevia or raw honey and pour over ice for a great tasting and healthy drink.”

With this recipe you control how tart the juice is by how much of each ingredient you use. Unlike most commercial cranberry juice, no refined sugar and nothing artificial is added.

Cranberry Juice Lowers Blood Pressure

Over the past two decades there have been numerous studies that looked at cranberries and their juice. Most of the research revolves around how cranberry juice can heal urinary tract infections and help to cleanse the bladder, kidneys and prostate. Reports are also showing anti-inflammatory effects and a study that says the juice itself is better than extracts for fighting infections.

There is an impressive amount of positive information about the restorative properties of cranberry juice. Now it appears the scientists have even more investigating they want to do.

Low Calorie Version of Cranberry Juice Lowers Blood Pressure

New research is pointing toward a benefit as yet not studied in cranberry juice. It has now been shown that drinking a lower calorie version of cranberry juice could lower blood pressure. The new findings were presented at the American Heart Association’s High Blood Pressure Research 2012 Scientific Sessions.

Participants were given either low calorie cranberry juice or a placebo drink every day for eight weeks. Blood pressure measurements were taken at the start, mid point and end of the study. At the conclusion readings showed a significant lowering of blood pressure from 121/73 to 118/70 for those drinking the juice. There was no change in those drinking the placebo.

Cranberry juice is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. Both of these attributes have been associated with lower blood pressure in other studies. This new research is another great reason to purchase fresh cranberries for juicing during the fall season.

With my recipe, if you want less sugar in your juice, simply use one less apple. Add a 1/2 a cup of water to the glass or ice and no other sweetener or maybe some Stevia like Linda and I have been using.”

With this great tasting recipe you control how tart the juice is by how much apple or water you use. Unlike most commercial cranberry juice, no refined sugar is added.

Our Top 2 Kidney Tonics!

Our Kidneys are quite important….it is our filterating system and if it becomes infected or congested, bladder troubles, urinary tract infections and serious problems can arise.  Yet we don’t really speak much about how to take care of our kidneys, so we thought we would write a short blog about what we have studied in these past three decades on how to take good care of our Kidneys. First and foremost let us say that freshly made, organic Cranberry, or Watermelon juices are some of our favourites.  Combined with other fruits helps make them even more important such as combining the Cranberries with the Apples. More on this below. ** The ingredients in these juices help keep our kidneys in good functioning order and working at their optimum.
Also, certain foods we eat can greatly impact the health and overall longevity of our kidneys.  Foods such as flour, either white or wheat, sugar, crackers, red or white meats can greatly harm our kidneys from functioning optimally.  Millions of Americans were eating high protein, flesh food diets to drop weight but they didn’t realize their kidneys were being negatively impacted by the high protein, no fiber foods.  That would include macrobiotic diets as well.   They don’t recommend drinking much water…and our kidneys NEED a flow of water to keep them buoyant, and functioning at their optimum, yet drinking vegetable juices and/or purified water is important, drinking liquids all at once can harm them as well, so try to stretch your liquid intake throughout the day.

Here’s a great recipe we have been using for many decades:
Cranberry-Apple (Our Pink Flush!)
2 Cups Organic Cranberries (fresh)
2 Organic Red Delicious Apples
Alternate in between juicing the Cranberries with the Apples so that the thick Cranberries get flushed through properly.

Cranberry Apple Juice with Jay

Cranberries have been subjected to some of the most comprehensive research ever conducted on fruits or vegetables. Studies have shown how cranberry juice can heal urinary tract infections and help to cleanse the bladder, kidneys and prostate. Reports are also showing anti-inflammatory effects and a new study that says the juice itself is better than extracts for fighting infections.

Jay Kordich, known as The Father Of Juicing has been teaching people about the power of cranberry juice for decades. He has followed the research and seen the benefits of cranberries and today we are posting his latest video, Cranberry Apple. It’s a great tasting recipe and you control how tart the juice is by how much apple you use. Unlike most commercial cranberry juice, no refined sugar is added to this recipe.
